Eternal Glory to Chairman Gonzalo: The Struggle Continues

September 11, the leader of the People’s War in Peru and the world revolution, Chairman Gonzalo, passed away in prison. After initiating and leading the People’s War in Peru for 41 years, this titan who has struggled for all his life stopped breathing. He gave everything for the World Proletarian Revolution, for Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, for the Communist Party of Peru and the Peruvian people – including his life. In the prison isolated from the whole world, Chairman Gonzalo fought to the last moment with the reactionaries, until they completed his final assassination. The death of Chairman Gonzalo is an unmeasurable loss to the current World Proletarian Revolution.
In 1928, Mariategui founded the Communist Party of Peru. After his death, the leadership of the Party was usurped by opportunists. The opportunists abandoned the road of Mariategui and capitulated to the Peruvian reaction. However, the Peruvian people’s struggle against imperialism and its lackeys did not stop. Chairman Gonzalo was influenced by the Sino-Soviet debate in his student years and became a Marxist-Leninist. In the 60s, Chairman Gonzalo came to Socialist China to study and witnessed the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. He clearly recognized the necessity to initiate people’s war in Peru. Chairman Gonzalo clandestinely constituted the Red Fraction within the Party and struggled against the revisionists inside the Party, ultimately reconstituting the CPP by the end of the 1970s.
In May 1980, the Communist Party of Peru formally initiated the People’s War. In the subsequent years, the CPP under the leadership of Chairman Gonzalo synthesized Maoism, and made Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, Chairman Gonzalo Thought its ideological basis.
Under the leadership of the CPP, the People’s War in Peru reached strategic equilibrium after 10 years. However the revolution is not a smooth process. In 1992, the Peruvian reaction, in coordination with US imperialism, arrested Chairman Gonzalo. In prison, Chairman Gonzalo has always reaffirmed the revolutionary standpoint, and made a speech using the opportunity of his public appearance, calling on revolutionaries to continue fighting.
Although the People’s War in Peru received blows in the following years, revolutionaries in Peru took over the flag of Chairman Gonzalo and continued the People’s War until today.
Chairman Gonzalo’s contribution to the proletarian ideology is incalculable. Chairman Gonzalo synthesized Maoism, making it the third stage of Marxism. He inherited and developed the revolutionary theory of Chairman Mao Zedong, and creatively applied it in Peru, forming the guiding thought of the Peruvian Revolution – Gonzalo Thought. The revolutionary theory raised by Chairman Gonzalo has universal validity and has major significance to the world revolution.
Especially, we want to emphasize Chairman Gonzalo’s view on the Chinese Revolution. After the counter-revolutionary coup of 1976, Chairman Gonzalo pointed out the fact of capitalist restoration in China. Chairman Gonzalo refuted Deng Xiaoping’s distortion of Mao Zedong Thought, and exposed Deng Xiaoping’s crime of restoring capitalism and dreaming of making China a superpower in the next century. Chairman Gonzalo pointed out, revolutionaries in China must walk the road of People’s War again to be able to overthrow the rule of revisionists and rebuild the dictatorship of the proletariat.
We need to firmly remember the teachings of Chairman Gonzalo, continue to deepen our understanding of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, mainly Maoism, and the contribution of universal validity of Chairman Gonzalo. We will never forget the task of the Chinese Communists – reconstitute the Communist Party of China, initiate people’s war, and take back our political power!
