The decomposition of imperialism: The Growing Torrent of Repudiation and the Crisis in Parliamentarism

2022 United Kingdom Parliamentary Crisis

What, generally speaking, are the symptoms of a revolutionary situation? … (1) when it is impossible for the ruling classes to maintain their rule without any change; when there is a crisis, in one form or another, among the “upper classes”, a crisis in the policy of the ruling class, leading to a fissure through which the discontent and indignation of the oppressed classes burst forth. For a revolution to take place, it is usually insufficient for “the lower classes not to want” to live in the old way; it is also necessary that “the upper classes should be unable” to live in the old way”

– V. I. Lenin, The Collapse of the Second International

British imperialism is going through its second parliamentary crisis this year. The ruling Conservative Party has a solid majority in parliament after the 2019 election, where they got the highest percentage of votes they have gotten since 1979, giving them 365 of the 650 seats in the House of Commons. Even in this situation they are not able to rule calm and stable, resulting in two of their Prime Ministers having to resign in less than two months.

The previous Prime Minister of British imperialism, Liz Truss, was only in office 45 days before she announced her resignation. This happen after the spectacular failure of her “mini-budget”, where she mainly aimed at cutting taxes for the bourgeoisie, but had no measures for compensating for the lost taxes except borrowing money and praying for it leading to growth of the British economy.

Right after her budget was announced the value of the pound plummeted to all time low compared to the US dollar, and the price of bonds from the British government collapsed. The budget was badly revived by the other imperialist and was even publicly criticized by IMF.

The failed economic measures of Liz Truss showed that she could not serve the interest of British imperialism, and she quickly lost the support of her party, leading to her resigning just over a month after her budget was announced.

The current situation of the parliamentary system of British imperialism is yet another expression of the ongoing cyclic and even more so of the general and final crisis of imperialism, which is in its advanced stage of decomposition. The ruling classes are clearly showing that they are not able “to maintain their rule without any change; … there is a crisis … among the “upper classes”, a crisis in the policy of the ruling class”, a tendency that is increasing not only in the UK but also in other imperialist countries.

The objective situation is bright for us, and at the same time the subjective situation is also in our favour, as communist all over the world are marching forward to constitute or reconstitute the communist party of their country or develop it, initiate and develop people’s wars, as a part of and in service of the proletarian world revolution. The peoples of the world as well develop the national liberation movement and the contradictions among the imperialists and the fierce struggle for repartition intensifies. Simple Facts no one can deny…………….

The communist are marching forward towards their reunification, with the Unified Maoist International Conference, which will give birth to the New International Organisation of the Proletariat – a war machine – a machine of combat that raises the unfading flags of marxism-leninism-maoism and the invincible People’s War!
